Zumba is a fitness craze that was first created by Choreographer Beto Perez in the 1990s. It has been growing rapidly in popularity over the past couple of years. In fact, it is estimated that 14 million people take a Zumba class around the world every week. Zumba is a workout that incorporates various styles of Latin dance, such as cumbia, merengue, and salsa. Zumba is a huge calorie burner. In fact, you can burn anywhere from 500 to 1,000 calories in one hour by doing Zumba.

Keep in mind that there are different types of Zumba, like Zumba toning which incorporates resistance moves into the routine to help sculpt your body, or Zumba gold which is geared towards older people. Zumbatonic has kid-friendly Zumba moves and aqua Zumba is a Zumba workout that is done in water.

Ballroom Dancing

If you love dance, and are looking for a low-impact workout, then you should consider giving ballroom dance a try. Ballroom dancing is not as strenuous as many other types of exercise, but it can help you burn a lot of calories in a short amount of time. Ballroom dancing at a moderate pace can help you burn over 300 calories in one hour. Wearing one of those fancy ballroom dance dresses is not only a fun perk, but also make you work harder to move, giving you more opportunities to shed the pounds.

Step Aerobics

Step aerobics can help you burn over 800 calories in one hour. It is also great for toning the muscles in the buttocks, thighs and legs, which are the problem areas for many people. You may begin to see results in just two weeks if you perform step aerobics five days out of the week.

Swimming

Swimming is another low-impact exercise that helps to burn a lot of calories. It also helps you get a full-body workout. Swimming at a moderate pace for an hour can burn over 300 calories. You can burn over 700 calories if you swim at a fast pace for one hour.

Losing weight does not have to be boring. You can and should have fun while you are getting in shape. Swimming, Zumba, ballroom dancing and step aerobics are just a few of the many fun exercises that help you get in shape and shed pounds.
