Freshen That Bad Breath NATURALLY

There’s nothing worse than walking into a big meeting with the smell of onion on your breath. You greet the person you’re meeting with, they take a step back, and you realize you’ve just sent the unpleasant aroma of onion rings right up their nose. You have definitely not started this meeting out on the right foot!  If only you had sprig of mint or some sunflower seeds in your pocket, you would have gotten that new promotion you were trying for. Okay, maybe not THAT dramatic, but you never know!  Knowing how to naturally cure bad breath can be a very helpful tip.

Mint

One of the most common methods of freshening up foul breath is mint leaves. For the same reason it’s used in so many chewing gum recipes, mint’s strong aroma masks the smell of bad breath. Parsley, cloves, and sunflower seeds are known to naturally cure bad breath, as well. Chewing them between brushing will keep your breath smelling naturally fresh.

Baking Soda

Another quick, and natural, method to curing bad breath is baking soda. Dissolve baking soda in a small amount of warm water and swish the mixture around the affected area for several minutes. The baking soda changes the pH, or acidity, in your mouth which fights off bacteria. This is also why baking soda can be found in almost all toothpastes. Brushing with a baking soda paste of water and baking soda can kill germs in your mouth and help with bad breath.

Apples and Yogurt

While they aren’t natural products that can cure bad breath instantly, apples and yogurt are well known to, over time, cure bad breath. Bacteria in yogurt fights off the harmful bacteria in your mouth that cause bad breath. Eating yogurt daily will prevent bad, smelly bacteria from building up. Apples work in the same way – they kill of odor-causing bacteria leaving the mouth smelling fresh and clean. Since yogurt and apples are both better for your body in more ways than just curing bad breath, they are definitely a smart addition to any diet.

Sometimes, bad breath is your body’s way of telling you that there is something wrong. If brushing alone isn’t helping, though, go to a dentist and have your mouth checked! Regularly brushing your teeth with toothpaste that contains baking soda is a great way to keep bacteria down and your breath smelling fresh. Avoiding acidic drinks can also reduce the buildup of bad breath causing bacteria.
