Oily Skin

This is totally normal, but it can lead to blocked pores which, let’s be honest, is an annoying inconvenience to experience on top of being pregnant. Don’t worry too much about it, though, because there are steps you can take. The easiest of these is to wash your face twice a day – morning and night – with some cold citrus water, and then moisturize. You probably know this already, but skin needs to be hydrated to look flawless and moisturizer works are helping your skin retain more water for longer. The other thing you can do is look after your skin from the inside out. Yeah, we mean indulging in a nice clean diet with foods that are known to be awesome for the skin. Fish, avocado, fresh greens, nuts and fruits, that sort of thing. Voila.

While some women don’t experience oily skin, between 50 and 70% of women tend to notice uneven patches on their skin, which is why they call it the mark of pregnancy. This is likely to do with your hormones being all over the place during pregnancy. Sometimes it can be just a slight unevenness and sometimes it can be a hyperpigmentation, such as melasma. It is worth mentioning that it usually those with darker skin tones that are prone to this. Don’t worry too much, though, because there is plenty of treatment in Singapore for melasma, which will stop it becoming bigger and darker over time. In terms of what you can do at home, eating foods that are rich in folic acid has a huge impact. It is sort of a pregnancy nutrition 101. Otherwise, it is all about protecting yourself whenever you are exposed to the sun. Lotion, lotion and more lotion. Trust us, it will help you loads.
The Glow
If you are experiencing nothing but that pregnancy glow then count your blessings because all you are really going to need to do is get used to the compliments. This will usually start to appear in your second trimester and what it is caused by is an increase in your blood volume. If you want to enhance this as much as possible and revel in your dewy glow then a great way to do this is by using honey as best as possible. Eat, drink, wear, exfoliate, whatever you fancy. It’s super amazing at promoting hydration and, like we mentioned above, that is the secret to a healthy and flawless complexion.
