Staying Safe And Happy While At Work

Having a healthy home life is super important when it comes to health and wellbeing. It is that place where you come to destress from work to workout and eat right and ensure that you aren’t putting your body at risk in anyway whatsoever. But given we spend most of our lives in the workplace, it is crucial that we know we are working in a safe environment too.

Luckily, there are ways in which we can keep ourselves, and those around us, safe and happy at work and prevent the chances of any workplace injuries happening; something that is imperative to our well-being.

Below we have come up with a list of ways we can make sure we’re not in any more risk at work than we are at home, and that there are the right precautions in place to assist this:

Perfect Protocols

It is so important that an emphasis on safety and wellbeing is established in the workplace every day, from day one onwards. This means having safety requirements laid out, procedures in place and wellbeing programs people can access. It is well worth speaking to HR about ways in which you can make these protocols more fun and engaging, which any sensible employer would get on board with.

Top Training

Guidelines are great, but it is nothing in comparison to having the right training to ensure no workplace injuries occur as a result of ignorance. These change for each employee, each role and each department, so getting the right comprehensive training for you is a must-have.

Excellent Equipment

We’re not just talking about the equipment you may use in your role, but the equipment that makes up your safety protocol, such as your first aid kit. The more extensive your first aid equipment and your treatment the safer you will be. This includes having access to Foremost AEDs in the case of cardiac arrest, knowing what to do in case of electric shock, and knowing who the appointed people are when it comes to providing first aid.

Vital Visuals

One of the most effective ways in which you can communicate crucial safety information is to use safety signs and labels. These are a great way to help people beware of hazards, but they can also encourage better wellbeing. One thing you could do is have fun little labels dotted around the place that reminds people the importance of good posture, taking a break from screens every twenty minutes, eating fruit, walking and stretching. It doesn’t all have to be formal.

Say Goodbye To Stress

Stress and the workplace have almost become synonymous with one another, which is why it is worth having some form of means to counter this. Long-hours, workloads, conflicts and job insecurity all heap the stress on to employees. So see if you and your employer can come up with a plan to offer more support and help employees to relax a little more. After all, healthy employees are more productive employees. Things you can encourage on this front are yoga, adopting flexible working hours, sending round mindfulness techniques, leading lunchtime walks.

There are loads of things you can do, it is just a matter of doing them.
