Lent
Lent in the Christian tradition is the period of the liturgical year leading up to Easter. Lent is a time of sacrifice for Jesus and always starts from Wednesday, lasts 40 days during which believers prepare — through prayer, repentance, alms-giving and self-denial — for the annual commemoration during Holy Week of the Death and Resurrection of Jesus.
Today we can eat only 3 meals – 2 small, light portions (morning and evening) and one bigger, full meal for dinner.
Most popular is bread with marmalade for breakfast and supper. For dinner most popular is herring with potatoes, but without sour cream. From drinks are admitted water, juices, tea and coffee, but without milk, only alcohol is forbidden.
In this day we shouldn’t eat meat, products with animals fat, eggs and dairies.
Kids, teenagers, older people, all sick people and pregnant women can eat all without limits, they are exempted from Lent.
