Five Effective Forms of Alternative Medicine

The American standard in health care has lead the country down a path of hefty expenses and unanswered questions over the past several decades. There is another answer, and that answer is in five powerful forms of alternative medicines. Acupuncture, meditation, chelation therapy, biofeedback, and chiropractic are these alternatives to harsh drugs and hopeless anecdotes. Those who have tried these alternatives have found relief and hope, when used properly can provide years of good health to the patient.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture has been known as an ancient form of Chinese medicine, using sterile disposable needles to redirect energy within the body. Acupuncture is based on mapping of the body and Qi, which was studied for the purpose of understanding how to increase the body’s energy level, slow it down, and aid in healing of the body. The needles are used simply because the practitioner can get to those specific energy points in the body, to begin the process of redirection. Acupuncture has been effective in treating anxiety, rapid pulse, pain, and many more conditions.

Meditation

Meditation has been widely used across the world in many different forms, whether it is with instrumental music, with Tibetan crystal bowls, mantras, or in silence. Statistics show that those who meditate experience much less stress than those who do not. Meditation is one of the most successful forms of these alternative medicines talked about in this article. India and Asia known as the home of meditational teaching, and are used as a way of life. Many organizations have encouraged meditation as part of the workplace, and as a result they have experienced more production and fewer injuries.

Chelation Therapy

Chelation Therapy is mostly used as an intravenous therapy in which chelating agents are administered to the patient to remove heavy metals like mercury, lead, and even arsenic. This form of therapy can be used when other methods don’t work for those with autism, heart disease and even many forms of cancer. While chelation therapy remains controversial, it is still used by many who are seeking the use of alternative medicine, in hopes to restore their quality of life.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback is another form of alternative medicine that is now being used more frequently to help those who have behavior problems such as ADD, ADHD, and has also been effective in treating anxiety. Biofeedback is just what it sounds like; looking for responses in the body and teaching oneself to gain control of that function. Biofeedback is being used by naturopathic physicians as well as chiropractors, and has proven to be effective for those who have tried other treatments or medicines that didn’t work.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic is the least controversial of all alternative medicines, in that it is closely associated with orthopedic medicine and physiotherapy. Chiropractors are able to help patients through various manipulations of the spine and joints in order to provide relief for the central nervous system. Our life is lived through our nervous system, so wouldn’t it make sense that we would care for it at any cost? While cost is certainly a consideration, chiropractic is the most affordable form of alternative medicine other than meditation.

It has been proven through various research that the use of chiropractic has released severe subluxations in patients, who were diagnosed with conditions like ADHD. Many chiropractors have reported improvements in their overall behavior and attitude, and this is believed to be due to the relief that these patients have received from pressure on key nerves throughout the central nervous system.

There are many forms of alternative medicines, but these are the most well known, and seem to the most effective in America today.
