4 Tips To Help Strengthen Your Relationship With Your Partner

For the majority of people, dating is good fun, but ultimately every date and every relationship has one simple goal; to build a lasting and loving relationship that will last the test of time – ie, finding the one.

Sadly though, the majority of relationships will not last – often is simply isn’t meant to be, but what if you are becoming a serial dater? How can you be better at being in a relationship and increase your chances of finding love? Well the good news is that there are a handful of mistakes couples often make and is relatively simple (although not always easy) to be better in your relationships and to build strong bonds, here are 4 tips:

Silly Arguments Are Very Silly

The clue is in the name really, and although we all realise that silly arguments are pointless and damaging, we all have them from time to time don’t we? Some couples are worse than others though. Especially if you are both the headstrong, proactive and bolshie type.

The problem is; if you are the sort to get involved in petty squabbling it is easy to get worn down, particularly if this is a frequent occurrence. Learning to look at things from someone else’s perspective is important in life and in love.

If this is something you are guilty of, start making an effort to empathise with your partner, even when you don’t necessarily agree over something. Learning to apologise is important too, resist the urge to be stubborn, defensive and self-righteous. Being loved up is much more fun than arguing, so why prolong any disagreement?

Jealousy Shouldn’t Be Necessary

If you are the jealous type you probably already know it – but do you realise that it is a problem? Jealousy ultimately boils down to a lack of trust and if your partner feels that you don’t trust them it will hard for strong bonds to form between you.

You should carefully assess whether your jealousy is founded? If you have a good reason to distrust your partner then that is something you need to work through – if not then you need to try hard to give him/her the trust they deserve.

It’s Good To Talk

Relationships are all about communication really; getting to know each other almost as well as you know yourself is a wonderful goal to have, and it is not possible without communicating regularly and openly.

Most importantly, you need to be able to talk to your partner about any problems or concerns you may have and you need to be able to listen and understand theirs too.

If you are the defensive type, try to learn to be more understanding and approachable – if your partner is scared to tell you about problems you will never be able to communicate effectively and this will prevent that trust that is so important.

Work Hard And Pay Attention

Staying in a relationship requires hard work, but if you do it right, and if you actually want to be in the relationship it shouldn’t ever feel like work.

Above all you need to make time for one another, this can be hard to do if you have busy lives, but spending quality time together is important and hey, if you can’t be bothered to do that then what’s the point anyway?
